01 Sports And Training Program
1- Sports training is provided and followed by all bodies that care for people with mental disabilities inside Kuwait (schools - associations - private clubs).
2- Providing training and educational programs to prepare technical cadres of trainers, teachers and referees.
3- The Kuwaiti Special Olympics offers opportunities to participate in sports competitions of 26 Olympic sports for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
02 Initiatives Program
They are activities that provide opportunities for players and their families to learn and acquire skills that qualify them to live with the community.
1- Families and siblings
It is a program in which families and siblings are trained on how to acquire skills that help to provide a healthy and social environment for people with intellectual disabilities.
03 Health Programs
1- Sports Health Examination (Med Fest):
An initiative aimed at:
- Free examination for persons with intellectual disabilities before participating in local, regional and international championships in (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight, body mass index, vision, hearing, medical history, potential side effects of drugs and general physical health) that meets the requirements and standard of physical sport led by volunteer doctors.
About Us
The Special Olympics movement was established in the United States of America in 1968 by Mrs. Eunice Kennedy Shriver, sister of the late President John F. Kennedy. Mrs. Shriver had in mind the year 1963 when she camped for a day in her backyard, around the pool and playgrounds attached to the house. It believed that this group of individuals has the ability to exceed the expectations of experts in the field of physical sports. Since 1968, the Special Olympics movement began and has flourished and now includes more than 226 accredited programs in more than 186 countries around the world.Read More



HOW TO JOIN
Young Players Program: an individual must be at least 3: 7 years old,
Athlete:
1- The individual must not be less than 8 years old, as a minimum, in order to be registered as a player in the Kuwaiti Special Olympics.
2- His case must be described by a specialized medical institution, or a specialist, as one of the following:
Intellectual disability.
A clear deficiency in educational and professional skills as a result of deficiencies in the cognitive aspects, which requires a special kind of education.
